is operated under the City of Orillia, Department of Culture and Heritage.

AWARDS - Trophies & Scholarships

Trophies

Trophies, at the Orillia Opera House Dance Festival, are awarded strictly on the basis of the highest mark attained by all participants in each Dance Style (Acro, Ballet, etc.)  We then divide each Dance Style into the three Age Categories – Junior, Intermediate and Senior.  We further divide these lists into two sections, Solos/Duets/Trios and Group/Line/Extended Line/Production. 

As we did last year, we will separate Pre-Competitive and Novice from the Open participants.  This is in order to encourage participants in these categories to move forward in their studies.

For example ~ in Ballet alone, there will be ONE trophy awarded to the highest mark obtained by the following:
Junior – Solo/Duet/Trio – Pre-Competitive & Novice
Junior – Solo/Duet/Trio - Open
Junior – Group/Line/Extended Line/Production – Pre-Competitive & Novice
Junior – Group/Line/Extended Line/Production – Open
Intermediate – Solo/Duet/Trio – Pre-Competitive & Novice
Intermediate – Solo/Duet/Trio - Open
Intermediate – Group/Line/Extended Line/Production – Pre-Competitive & Novice
Intermediate – Group/Line/Extended Line/Production - Open
Senior – Solo/Duet/Trio – Pre-Competitive & Novice
Senior – Solo/Duet/Trio - Open
Senior – Group/Line/Extended Line/Production – Pre-Competitive & Novice
Senior – Group/Line/Extended Line/Production - Open

This listing would then apply to each of our listed Dance Styles.

TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED DURING THE FESTIVAL AT THE LUNCH, DINNER OR END OF DAY ADJUDICATION PERIOD THAT MOST CLOSELY FOLLOWS THE CLOSE OF THAT DANCE STYLE FOR EACH DIVISION.

“MOST OUTSTANDING PERFORMER” TROPHIES WILL BE AWARDED ON SUNDAY EVENING.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded entirely at the discretion of the Adjudicators.  These cash awards are given to individual performers only and are NOT necessarily awarded for any specific performance, but for consistent excellence throughout the Festival or for the promise of excellence shown in any of our performers.

There will be in excess of $5,000.00 in guaranteed awards from the Opera House Dance Festival and the City of Orillia that will be available for allocation to deserving students in the following manner:

The Orillia Opera House Dance Festival staff are actively soliciting more scholarship monies from outside sources to add to this list.  There is, included with this Syllabus, a form for donations to this Fund for your Studio to be a part of this process, if you should so desire.
