On Golden Pond
By: Ernest Thompson

This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness—and slang—in return. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits

"ON GOLDEN POND is a work of rare simplicity and beauty, and in Thompson our theatre has found a fresh new voice." NY Daily News

"…a rare and memorable theatrical experience…" Variety

"What courage it must have taken for Mr. Thompson in the 1970s to write a play with so much affection in it!" The New Yorker

REPLAY - The Beatles Tribute
Produced by: Orillia Opera House

REPLAY is Canada’s most authentic, exciting and compelling Beatles tribute. Many tribute bands imitate The Beatles… REPLAY makes you feel you have seen The Beatles.

In 2002 The Montreal Gazette wrote: “REPLAY is the hottest tribute band on the circuit…”

In 2006 Montreal Six Flags (La Ronde) said: “REPLAY is as authentic a reproduction of a show by The Beatles as you will see anywhere.”

In March 2010 Octopuses Garden Beatles Magazine said: “I must rank REPLAY as one of the best I have ever seen.”

You’ll no doubt get goose bumps and butterflies-in-your-stomach listening to your favourite songs like She Loves You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, A Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Michelle, Penny Lane, Get Back, Hey Jude and many more! Add Liverpudlian accents, on-stage antics, authentic costumes and instruments, and REPLAY may be the closest you’ll get to seeing The Beatles.

The Vaudevillians
By: Peter Colley

This is the story of Vaudeville ... from its early beginnings, on to entertaining the troops and though Vaudeville's ultimate demise with the advent of movies.  It is told, through skits and music, by three vaudevillians near the end of their careers.  They share memories and take the audience on a trip down memory lane, re-enacting the shows they once did, as they try to prove they still have what it takes to be Vaudeville stars once again.

The show borrows music and sketches from Music Hall, Gypsy and Minstrel Shows.  Old favourites such as "Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me" and original music written for the show will make this sure-fire entertainment for audiences of all ages.  The humour embraces the signature silliness and groaners that were Vaudeville and includes new sketches and old favourites.

Willie, Waylon, Johnny Highwayman Tribute
Produced by: Crossfire Productions

Look alike/Sound alike Tribute artists to Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash-The Highwayman performing many of their best known hits such as Dukes of Hazzard (Good Ole Boys), On the Road Again and Walk the Line.  Two hours of entertainment with a 20 minute intermission.

In 1984 Johnny Cash was taping a CBS Christmas special in Montreux Switzerland.
His guests for the show besides June Carter Cash were Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson,
Waylon Jennings and his wife Jessie Colter. The Highwaymen were born. Never before
in country music had a recording group of such country superstars existed. Waylon and
Johnny (and June) are no longer with us but their music lives on ... remembered and
performed by look and sound alike impersonators Bob Gill and Jim Yorfido.
Both have successfully toured internationally performing to sold out shows and are said
to be the best in the world at their craft of emulating their heroes Waylon and Johnny.
Their appearance and vocals are so much like the original artists it is uncanny. They are
joined by Willie Nelson impersonator Guy Melanson who lends his excellent vocal and
instrumental talents to the show. These three are the Highwaymen road show and are
backed by their excellent 5 piece band. They are performing at the Stephen Leacock
theatre on Friday March 27 at 8pm. Doors open at 7:30 pm.
Remember such hits as Ring of Fire, On the Road Again and Good 01' Boys to name
a few. A bit of history - Waylon was to be on the same plane with Buddy Holly that
crashed but lost his seat to the Big Bopper in a coin toss. It took him years to get over
that as he felt somehow responsible.
