Orillia "Flashback" Concert
Produced by: Grace Freedom Centre

Grace Freedom Center presents a fundraising concert featuring local artists Elizabeth Hurtubise, Steven Henry, Even Steven, Ron Douglas, Tamika Herod, Gina Horswood and the John and Fred LeBarr Band. The artists are generously donating their time and talents. They will be performing separately and working collaboratively with a range of songs from past favourites to contemporary. Grace Freedom Centre is a not for profit Christian organization whose mandate is to show love and grace to the streets of Orillia without prejudice. We do this through a number of outreach programs.

All proceeds of this concert will go towards the building of a youth shelter in Orillia.  Although other agencies continue their valuable support to youth in our community, the increasing number of young women needing assistance far exceeds the beds available at the present time. Please come out and support this great cause and enjoy our talented local artists.

Outlaw
By: Norm Foster
Directed By: Jesse Collins

Outlaw is about a young Canadian homesteader travelling far from home; that finds himself accused of murder in the state of Kansas in the late 1800’s. With only his wits to defend himself, he turns the law of the land – and the men hellbent on enforcing it – upside down. This authentic western is a unique take on the days when guns were the law.

“Westerns are a genre long admired by the likes of movie makers and novelists, but rarely do they make it to the theatre. Luckily, Foster has long been a fan of Westerns, penning his nostalgic homage to High Noon, Shane and The Magnificent Seven. Viewers don’t have to be theatre or even Western aficionados to enjoy Outlaw—as with all of Foster’s plays, the story is about human relationships.”     Niagara Pulse Magazine

On Golden Pond
By: Ernest Thompson

This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness—and slang—in return. In the end, as the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll, and in the final, deeply moving moments of the play, Norman and Ethel are brought even closer together by the incidence of a mild heart attack. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits

"ON GOLDEN POND is a work of rare simplicity and beauty, and in Thompson our theatre has found a fresh new voice." NY Daily News

"…a rare and memorable theatrical experience…" Variety

"What courage it must have taken for Mr. Thompson in the 1970s to write a play with so much affection in it!" The New Yorker

The Vaudevillians
By: Peter Colley

This is the story of Vaudeville ... from its early beginnings, on to entertaining the troops and though Vaudeville's ultimate demise with the advent of movies.  It is told, through skits and music, by three vaudevillians near the end of their careers.  They share memories and take the audience on a trip down memory lane, re-enacting the shows they once did, as they try to prove they still have what it takes to be Vaudeville stars once again.

The show borrows music and sketches from Music Hall, Gypsy and Minstrel Shows.  Old favourites such as "Ma, He's Making Eyes at Me" and original music written for the show will make this sure-fire entertainment for audiences of all ages.  The humour embraces the signature silliness and groaners that were Vaudeville and includes new sketches and old favourites.
